The Department of Jobs, Technology, Science and Industry is currently conducting a survey to figure out just how many game developers there are in Western Australia, so if you’re making games be sure to fill it out! The survey comes in two forms, one for businesses and another for individuals.
JTSI is looking for data on Interactive Industries in general, so there is interactive cross-sections with Agriculture, Mining, Construction, Manufacturing, Finance and Insurance Services, Information media and Telecom, Public Administration and Safety, Education and Training, Health Care and Social Assistance, Art & Recreation, Other and of course our own Games Industry. You can see the full snapshot below.
This is a really important survey for a number of reasons. The primary reason being that in order for funding to occur in the future everyone needs to know the state of the industry at this moment. Then the government can compare the results before and after funding. And this survey is a critical piece of knowledge we have been missing in WA.
This data will be supplied to multiple government departments including Department of Jobs, Tourism Science and Innovation (JTSI), Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) and Screenwest. We here at Let’s Make Games may also be able to access the data once identifying information has been removed.
So please if you have ten minutes, take the time to fill out this survey!
Or visit the New Industries website for the Interactive Survey here.
NOTE: The survey has been extended and will now close on Friday the 8th of November.
