Brace yourself for another round of top-notch talks by and for local game developers. It may seem like a taboo topic, but discussing failure is just as important as sharing success; so why not join us for the latest in the Let’s Talk Games series to find out why, and hear about some of the lessons learned from less-than-successful projects.
What: Let’s Talk Games: Embracing Failure
When: Wednesday, 7 August. 6pm – 8pm.
Where: SAE Institute, 120 Roe Street, Northbridge.
RSVP: via Facebook event
At some point, we will all experience failure. It might be a failure to ship, a failure to make the right decisions, or just a failure to release a financially successful product. No matter just how talented or experienced you may be, something will always inevitably go wrong, and you will have to contend with the fallout of what took place. But in an industry terrified of talking about failure and so focused on successes, it can be very easy to feel like you are alone in your experience. This leads to a great deal of fear of failing, and as Yoda once said: Fear is the path to the Dark Side.
In this edition of Let’s Talk Games, Matthew Dyet (SAE, Stirfire) and Brendan Ragan (Titanium, Stirfire) will talk frankly about their personal experiences with failure, the lessons they learned, and how you can learn to overcome your fear and embrace failure to become a better Game Developer.
