Let’s Make GameJam! was a great success with around 60 people enjoying the BBQ and learning about GameJam. There was much lively discussion and formulation of game ideas and development teams.
The night started with a BBQ (manned by Anthony and James from OneTwenty) and socialising outdoors in the cool weather. It was great to see a lot of new faces alongside familiar local industry figures. After around an hour, Simon Wittber introduced GameJam (noting that it’s a collaborative event and not a competition) and surprisingly announced the secret theme for the (then upcoming, now current) GameJam.
With all food eaten and the theme revealed, the crowd moved to the upstairs computer labs where previous GameJammers talked about GameJam, fielded questions, and demonstrated a few previous entries. From then on, people met discussed game ideas and production. Programmers were in short supply, so artists had to be quick to grab one!
Thanks to eCentral TAFE (especially Richard Lancaster) for hosting the event, and a huge thanks to Minh (OneTwenty Events Coordinator) for such a fantastic job making sure that everything was well-prepared and smoothly executed.
