Australian Game Development Survey

Banner: Australian Game Development Survey 2015/16

The Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) and the Game Developers Association of Australia are currently conducting a survey on the local games industry, to get an updated picture of its size and scope. Data from this survey will assist in future advocacy and lobbying on behalf of the industry, so if you’re involved in making games, be sure to fill it out!

The IGEA and the GDAA advocate on behalf of the wider industry and having access to current, meaningful and consistent data is critical for discussions at both a Federal and State level. The ability to portray a creative, innovative, and growing sector is extremely powerful. Further, it helps enforce that game developers contribute significantly to export dollars, employment and the wider digital economy. Your participation in this survey helps us enormously in this regard and we are grateful for your assistance.

The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R6GKBJ6

Make sure you fill it out before 6 September 2016, so we can show folks that there are tons of excellent game makers in Aus!

FTI wants to hear from WA Game Developers, Educators and Students

FTI Survey Banner

If you work or teach in the Games and Interactive Industry (or are studying your way towards doing so) then the Film and Television Institute wants to hear from you. FTI have launched a series of surveys to help build a clearer picture of the local industry, from which they can develop future initiatives that will better support local devs.

In particular the surveys will:

  1. Guide the focus of FTI’s Interactive Programs and how we can best support the industry in growing and thriving (even more important now that Screen Australia’s games fund has been axed!)
  2. Help us all know more about the size, scale etc. of our industry so that we better advocate for ourselves and show our economic and cultural importance!

Whether your focus is the console, the tabletop, experimental works, writing game reviews, 3D modelling or any other game-related work, your opinion counts! The feedback from these surveys will directly shape FTI’s plan, and could even help towards showing the value of investment in Games and Interactive to State and Federal Government and private sector.

For more information, and to fill our a copy of the survey, head on over to: https://www.fti.asn.au/fti-games-industry-scoping-survey

The FTI survey is open until Friday, 30 May 2014.

Developers! Developers! …

We now have a Developers section that includes a page for each profile submitted in response to our latest developer survey.

As you can see from the image above, we have 14 developer profiles and we want more! Clearly, we would like to heard from all 20 developers listed in our links, but we also hope to collect profiles on local game developers that are no longer active.

The surveys are still running, so please submit a profile if you are/were part of a team that has yet to do so!

We understand that filling out a profile can feel a bit onerous, so we’ve tried to make it as easy and as fast as possible. If you need even more encouragement, we refer you to Steve Balmer:

Next up: We’ll be creating a Games section based on survey responses (and updating developer pages to include links to their games).
