What’s Up Pitches?! was always planned to be run at a fast pace. Talks were to be limited to 3 minutes, and there would be only minimal question time so that we could go from speaker to speaker in rapid succession.
It turns out that we had to go even faster than initially planned. Due to a communication error between the venue and their security company, we had the room booked until 8pm but the building had to be empty by 7pm! Undeterred, we made the event run even faster.
Speakers from Let’s Make Games kindly dropped their presentation places (thanks Anthony and Chris) and we cut out question time altogether (after all, we could talk all we wanted afterwards). In the end, we managed to fit almost all of the planned content in half the time – which thankfully matched the fast-paced event concept.
Here are some photos from the event (thanks to Rich and Andy for taking photos):
Thanks to Central Institute of Technology for the venue, all the speakers, our special guests (Quie Ying from Tourism WA, and Garth Pendergrast from Stirfire Studios), and for everyone who came down and accommodated for the last-minute changes.
Our next big event is scheduled for August but we may hold another event before then. It will mostly be a longer format series of tech talks so let us know if you are interested in presenting!
