In just 3 weeks, X|Media|Lab will be coming to Perth. What does this mean for local game developers? Well, let’s start with a description of X|Media|Lab!

XMediaLab is the internationally acclaimed creative industries event. XML creates a meeting place uniquely designed to assist companies and people get their own creative ideas successfully to market, through concept development, business matching, and direct access to world-class networks of creative professionals.

The theme for the Perth lab is “Storytelling in a Digital Age”, which sounds like a perfect match for games projects.
The Pro Day Conference:
X|Media|Lab Perth will be composed of two parts. The first part is a one-day conference for “a general audience of screen practitioners, games developers, technologists, digital media professionals, advertisers, marketers, web & mobile professionals, analysts, policy advisors and hackers!”

The Lab:
The second part of X|Media|Lab Perth is the lab itself “at which selected ‘Interactive Storytelling’ projects work one-on-one with the International Mentors – gaining high-level elite personal consultation and entering into an impeccable international network… ‘a million dollars worth of mentoring in 2 days!'”
- Time/Date: 9:00am 16 April 2001 – 5:00pm 17 April 2011
- Location: State Theatre Centre of WA
- Cost: $500 per person for members of accepted projects.
Important: Projects for the lab need to be nominated and then accepted into the lab. You can nominate your project here.
For those who hope to bring projects to the lab, you may be eligible for the XML Perth Development Award that “will provide development funding up to AUD $20,000 for up to three Western Australian digital media projects that have completed mentoring through the two-day Lab.”
For those who would like to attend, but feel that the prices are a little out of your range, you can apply for an XML Scholarship to Attend.
