Square Heroes is WA’s first PS4 Game!

Square Heroes: Killing Streak (PS4)

Gnomic Studios has kept the ball rolling (or really the square flying) this year, taking their collection of killer cubes to the console. First released on Steam last year, Square Heroes is now taking the Playstation 4 by storm for the excellent price of $4.99.

* Designed for multiplayer from the ground up. All maps support six players including bots as desired. Up to four human players can play locally without split screen. What’s more, multiple local players can join online matches together, enabling online couch vs couch gaming.

* Game modes include co-op, free-for-all, and team based options. Hunt for gnomes, survive alien onslaughts and fight to the death in any of the six stylish 2.5D arenas.

* Level-up your Hero and unlock over 30 new weapons including: Grenade Launcher, Sticky Bomb and Chicken.

‘Best Game’ Nominees Announced for the 27th West Australian Screen Awards

The fine folk at FTI have announced the successful nominees for the 27th West Australian Screen Awards (WASA), and 2015 is the third year that a games category has been included. Three local games have made their way onto the list, all quite varied in style and purpose.

As a bit of interesting background information, two of the nominations this year are for games that use novel control schemes, one of the titles has been developed as part of a therapeutic support program, and two of the studios featured have been nominated for the award on previous titles. But enough talk, on to the games!

And the nominees for Best Game are…

Catnips is a 2-team cat milking simulator. Described as “nifty” and “horrifying”, deep down catnips is just about love, nipples, survival and catmilk. Not the easiest to describe in one paragraph, keep an eye out and experience it yourself next time the cats are in town.

Congratulations and best of luck to this year’s nominees! The winners will be announced at the 27th WASA Gala Awards Ceremony on 29 June, 2015. This red carpet celebration is set to include special VIP guests, fancy food and drink, and will be attended by film industry leaders, WA screen practitioners, media, sponsors and industry partners. Square Heroes hits Steam Greenlight

SquareHeroes_Banner

The killer cubes of Gnomic Studios are back as their latest game Square Heroes makes its way onto Steam Greenlight. Much like its entertaining predecessor Square Off, this game is a fast-paced comic arena shooter for squares with sharp reflexes and even sharper corners. In it up to 4 players will be pit against one another in battles online or locally, and across such game modes as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Gnome.

Humanity is again relying on the Square Avengers to survive a vicious alien onslaught. Unfortunately for humanity, our Avengers are busy trying to win this year’s Best and Squarest tournament. Hone your skills by taking on the encroaching alien horde, or skip straight to the main event and challenge your friends to one of the hilarious and frantic online skirmish modes.

To show your support for the latest in Square warfare, head on over to the Steam Greenlight page and give them a thumbs up!
