Congratulations to +7 Software on the news that Final Days will be heading to Steam. Great work gamers! Thanks for supporting a local developer.
Original Post: Vote for Final Days on Steam Greenlight
Last month we wrote about the release of the Final Days alpha, an upcoming zombie shooter by local developer +7 Software. If you have yet to jump into the frantic survival game now is the time, because they need your help (and more importantly votes) to get onto Steam Greenlight!
Final Days is a fast-paced and intense multiplayer shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world. It’s an arcade style game designed to be quick, simple, and fun. Inspirations include classics such as Smash TV, Gauntlet, Alien Breed, and Grand Theft Auto.
Can you survive?
If you’re interested in seeing what the end of humanity has to offer, you can download the alpha demo here. To help a local dev out and get the game onto Steam, simply make your way down the dark halls of Steam Greenlight and give it a thumbs up.
Mr Nibbles, that little hamster with big dreams of space exploration, is back again and this time he needs your help to take his game to the next level. Developed by Epic Shrimp, Mr Nibbles Forever is currently available on iOS and Android, but this rebellious rodent is looking to go one better and jet off to PC with Steam Greenlight.
Mr Nibbles Forever dreams of becoming the first Hamster in space…
Upon release, expect the game to be expanded to include new outfits with new exciting effects and sounds. More cute humor and more varied levels elements and challenging features. New challenge types and ways to challenge your friends. More and varied powerup types to win on the wheel.
To assist this astronaut in his adventure, give him the thumbs up for launch over on the Steam Greenlight page.
Virtual Reality is the place to be, with many of the big names in games putting together their own headsets and systems to make the most of the burgeoning area. Local studio Offpeak Games has been hard at work making the most of this technology, having already won a place in the Amcom <Upstart> and receiving support from the Oompf Games! Fund. You may have played their upcoming title Valiant at PlayUp Perth, or even the Perth Games Festival, and now they are reaching out to the community via Kickstarter to help them in the final stage of development.
Valiant is a multiplayer medieval combat game, exclusively for virtual reality. It features horse-based mounted combat, where players can charge into battle alongside friends, using weapons such as lances, bows, swords, javelins, crossbows and maces.
This is a really solid title that is a lot of fun to play, so to heed the call and set out on horseback, head on over to the Valiant Kickstarter page. The game has already been Greenlit, so you can also check out their Steam page here.
What good is a wizard afraid of wands? Well if you ask the team at Rhabdophobic Wizards, they’ll say you can still pack some serious punch. In their premier title Bellus Mortem, you enter the battle arena as a spellcasting cat-like wizard intent on blowing your opponents away. Now the feline foes are hitting Greenlight and Kickstarter to put you under their spell and make the game a reality.
Bellus Mortem is a 4 player, top down action game where each player is trying to knock others out of the arena by casting spells. Players can select 4 spells per game. Cast your ultimate ability to gain the upper hand. Last player alive in the arena is crowned the winner.
So use your powers for good, and head on over to the Bellus Mortem Greenlight to give them a vote, and check out the Kickstarter if you’re keen to help this game of wizard warfare come to life!
Spring is here, and the blooming plant-based protagonists of BrambleLash are getting ready to venture off into the outside world. This creative co-op game is the work of the ByteSprite crew, who you may remember from such posts as “BrambleLash Demo Out Now” and “Oompf! Games fund Winners Announced“. Now they’re reaching out to you, so why not lend a hand and help bring this game about connecting with friends onto Steam.
BrambleLash is a spritely multiplayer co-op with tactical team-and-swap strategy. Enchanted sprites work together to defeat slimy invaders in a whimsical setting full of glimmering shadows. Connect, co-operate or betray to win!
If you’re keen to see this game grow, head on over to the Steam Greenlight page and give them a green-thumbs up!
We do our best to keep an eye out for new games made right here in WA, but alas, every now and again something cool slips under our radar. One such game is Arbalest 3035 by Bear-Tooth Studios, which combines beautiful abstract patterns and chaotic friend-destroying local multiplayer.
“Arbalest 3035 is a local multiplayer space shooter. With a fast paced movement and abstract art style, this game is a visually stimulating chaotic experience for you and your friends. Being built and developed in a party setting this game works best when played locally at parties with friends.”
Not only does the game have its own sense of style, it also has a unique power-up system that allows you to ‘build your own’ powers based on the different coloured orbs you collect. So if you’re interested in trying out a shiny space shooter, Arbalest 3035 is available now on PC, Mac and Linux for $2.50 over at their itch.io page. Or if Steam is more your gaming-space, head on over to Greenlight and give it a vote!
After a successful Greenlight campaign last year, Gnomic Studios’ Square Heroes has at last crashed their way onto Steam in a flurry of jetpacks and pistols. With 31 Steam Achievements, steam trading cards, full controller support, single player mode, cross-platform multiplayer (Windows, Mac, Linux), AND Co-op modes, there is no excuse for you not to be in on the action!
Plus as an added bonus, if you join the squares in their fight through the Galactic Hero’s Tournament before April 16th you’ll get 10% off the price for a copy (down to $8.99USD) or a four pack (down to $17.99USD).
» So head on over the Steam store now. Be there… and Square!
While it’s not uncommon to see a comedic game out there in the world, a game centered around stand up comedy is certainly something you don’t see every day. Cue Perth’s own Oscar Brittain, creator of World’s Fastest Pizza, who not only used this unusual concept as the basis for his new game Leave ‘Em Laughing, but also went one step further by throwing in some unique Western Australian flair; featuring music by Perth-based bands and scenery from our very own suburb of Fremantle, this is undoubtably a game like no other that is sure to leave an impression.
Leave ’em Laughing is a procedurally generated stand up comedy game that lets you live the life of comedian Nelson Smith as he creates and performs his act, constantly insults people, avoids his ex, and listens to sweet vinyl.
The game has 8 episodes, each with a unique story that changes each time you play it. Each play session feels like an episode of a sitcom like Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, or Clerks: The Animated Series, lasting 20 minutes and with recurring characters and themes that develop Nelson as a character and comedian.
» Those of you who attended the Perth Games Festival may have had a chance to play the game’s alpha. Well, you can now also show your support for this curious comedic tale by backing it on Kickstarter or giving it a vote on Greenlight. If however you missed out, fear not – a beta version will be available to backers, so there’s still time to get in on the act before the show leaves town!
Paradigm is the peculiar point and click adventure game that has been intriguing and confusing people the world around since the start of its Kickstart campaign last month. We would like to extend a big congratulations to local developer Jacob Janerka, as the game has not only reached its funding goal, it has smashed its target, reached several stretch goals, and been Greenlit on Steam!
There is however only 12 hours left in the Paradigm Kickstarter campaign, so now is the time to get in and support this local developer to help him achieve one last stretch goal, allowing him to live the dream and work on the game full time.
If you’re eager to play a weird and wonderful point and click game, there’s still time to put your name down for a copy of Paradigm, some fancy extras and even have your own floating head in the game. So head on over to the Kickstarter page, or download a copy of the alpha on Windows or Mac (10.9) to try it out now.
Every so often a game will come along that is so peculiar that you just can’t look away. Paradigm is one such game, as it draws you in with its curious cast of mutant characters and vibrantly coloured post-apocalyptic world. Spawned from the mind of Perth’s own Jacob Janerka, this point and click adventure is now out in the world looking for love.
Paradigm is a surreal point-and-click adventure game for Windows, OSX and Linux set in the strange and post apocalyptic world of Krusz; a land inspired by a mix of Eastern Europe and the 70’s & 80’s.
Play as unattractive yet over-confident mutant Paradigm; who must prevail through a series of inconveniences on an adventure to overcome the insecure and tyrannical sloth antagonist, Olof!
» The game’s alpha is available now, so you can get to know Paradigm and his mutant friends (not to mention enemies). You can also show your support for this unusual adventure by backing it on Kickstarter or giving it a vote on Greenlight.
Perth, it’s point n’ click time~
