Play games that were made in just one weekend at After the Jam!

Global Game Jam 2018 went off amazingly well with the theme of “Transmission,” making for great collection of interesting games. 80 jammers created over 30 games across one weekend (which you can check out here), but alas we did not get time to play each other’s games after the event!  Therefore Let’s Make Games shall once again be having an annual “After the Jam” event, where everyone is invited to come enjoy this eclectic mix of creative games made super quickly.

Global Game Jam Perth: After the Jam!

  • Where: Nostalgia Box, 3 18/16 Aberdeen St, Perth WA 6000
  • When: 6pm to 9pm, Saturday 10th February
  • Tickets: Free for Jammers, $10 for everyone else via Eventbrite.
  • RSVP: via the Facebook Event
  • Please note: This will be a alcohol free event.

Without the assistance of our sponsors, SAE Institute Perth and The Nostalgia Box, Let’s Make Games could not have had this years’ global game jam at all. A special thanks also goes to the very kind people at Pixel Sift who wrote up an article about the jammers, and Gamecloud who sent serial jammer Nick Ballantyne to jam with us and tell everyone how it all went down.

We hope to see everyone at After the Jam!

Either grab a team of people you know, or make some new friends on the day; listen to the opening keynote, note the theme and get to work!  You’ll have until Sunday afternoon to create one or more games surrounding the theme.  All rules are off (unless you like rules) and you can create anything from tabletop, analog, experimental, physical, AR and of course video game wise.  Your imagination and sleep are the only restrictions!

Global Game Jam – North and South Sites

Text: "Global Game Jam"

It’s that time of year again, when aspiring and seasoned developers alike come together for some extreme game-making. That’s right, it is time for the Global Game Jam (GGJ), and this year we have two sites lined up for Perth both North and South of the river!

Haven’t been to GGJ before? Want to know what it’s all about?
Here’s a quick overview from the Global Game Jam folks:

The goal is to come together and make a video game, or non-digital game like a board game or card game. Participants rapidly prototype game designs and hopefully inject new ideas to help grow the game industry. We share a common theme and constraints. We ask participants to create a game from beginning to end in a prescribed time (maximum of 48 hours). The brief time span is meant to help encourage creative thinking to result in small but innovative and experimental games.

It will be free to join in the fun at both Perth sites, but places are limited. So if you’re keen to get your game on, be sure to sign up to one of the following locations:

What: Global Game Jam (NORTH)

When: Starting 5pm January 29 – 31, 2016
Where: Edith Cown University (Mt Lawley Campus), 2 Bradford ST, Mount Lawley
Registrations: Join the Jam here!

What: Global Game Jam (SOUTH)

When: Starting 5pm January 29 – 31, 2016
Where: Murdoch University, 90 South ST, Murdoch
Registrations: Join the Jam here!
