Whacky Ball beta Bounces onto Android

Whacky Ball Header

What makes a mobile game a hit? Having something fun, easy to play and unique is a certainly good way to get the ball rolling. Local developer Whacky Brew is working on a game that does just that, and now they’re looking for iOS beta testers to take Whacky Ball for a spin.

Whacky Ball is a challenging game of balls for iPhone and iPad that uses your device’s camera to transport you onto the screen and into the game action. Use your hands or head to keep the balls up in the air before shooting for goal.

Check out the video below to get an idea of the wacky gameplay on offer. To join the beta, simply shoot an email to info@whackyball.com and they’ll get you in the game.

MOK Alpha has Landed on Android

MOK by 42 Bytes (Alpha Header)

Local developer 42 BYTES recently released the alpha of their upcoming mobile game MOK, and they are now in need of some extraterrestrial testers. MOK features a host of cute little aliens trying to get to a party on time, all the while avoiding every manner of space obstacle.

It’s designed entirely in pencil and it’s about a cute little alien called MOK who is picking up his alien friends to attend a party.

The player is responsible to navigate the alien ship through different worlds (spiky field of thorns, moving bubbles etc) and tries to land beside his friends who excitedly jump up and down and then join him in his little ship.

The MOK alpha is now available for Android devices, and 42 BYTES would love your feedback! If you want to jump in alongside MOK and lend him a hand, zoom over to the developer’s website – but be careful how you fly, the ship has no brakes after all!

Super Salmon Migration Demo Dives onto Android

Super Salmon Migration - Bear Tooth Studios

Jumping into 2016, Bear-Tooth Studios have released the demo of their latest game Super Salmon Migration into the wild. This migratory mobile game was first shown at the Perth Games Festival alongside Arbalest 3035, but now you have the chance to take it home and test your survival skills. Not only do you get to play the game early, you’ll be helping the developer tackle any issues, and fine-tuna the game.

Welcome to the Super Salmon Migration Demo! You play as a fish and must brave the treacherous waters whilst dodging various obstacles. Aquire collectables and trade them in for sweet Fi$h Bucks and buy some costumes.

You can grab the demo right now via Google Play, and get leap right into the action.

Are you ready for iParty 2.0?

iParty 2.0, the end-of-year party for the Perth game development community, is on this Friday (27 November), so make sure that you are free from 6pm-9pm!

The response to our call for volunteers has been huge, so a big thank you to everyone who replied. All required positions have been filled in record time!

We’ve been asked a few times about whether people will be able to demonstrate games at the event. We will have a few “demo tables” setup with powerboards. Also please plan to arrive a little early (5:30pm) if you are bringing something to demo and make sure that you have all required equipment (laptop, cables, speakers, game controllers etc.)

We’ve extended our showreel deadline to 5pm Tuesday. It’s easiest if you just upload your video to an online host (such as YouTube) and send us a link. Remember that videos are to be no longer than 1 minute (unless you are a sponsor) and you can only submit one per company and product.

That’s all for now, but be sure to check back throughout the week (or subscribe to our RSS feed) for more details on the event (including easy-to-follow directions to the venue).

See you on Friday!
